Since 2013, EYC and ESS have co-sponsored the Edgewood Optimist Invitational, a smaller Opti regatta designed to increase youth sailor (and parent!) comfort levels in competition and to prepare or enhance youth sailor performance in NBYA youth Opti regattas at EYC and other locations on Narragansett Bay. The racing takes place in “stadium sailing” format, right off the EYC docks, making for an unparalleled spectator experience. Usually held on a Sunday in late July, the event is timed to precede the later-season NBYA Opti events.
